Coronation Hall Town Hall Aachen

With a length of 45 metres and a width of 18.5 metres, the two-nave hall, each with five ribbed vaults divided by four mighty pillars, was the largest secular hall in the Holy Roman Empire when it was built around 1349.

It is this hall that gives Aachen's town hall its unique character and sets it apart from all other town halls in the empire. Whereas in the Middle Ages it was the coronation banquets, today it is the International Charlemagne Prize that gives the hall its European significance. This magnificent room, measuring almost 1,000 square metres, can also be booked for corporate or cultural events. It can accommodate up to 750 people for a seated dinner and up to 1,000 for a cocktail reception.
