‘Be digital. Stay human.’ the DIGITAL X 2023
Two days of innovation, inspiration and hands-on technology. Around 50,000 people experienced DIGITAL X 2023 under the motto 'Be digital. Stay human. DIGITAL X 2023 with 6 stages, 250 speakers and 300 partners on an area of 2 million square metres in the heart of Cologne city centre.
Celebrity guests included actor and human rights activist George Clooney, ABBA icon Björn Ulvaeus and entrepreneur Dr Wladimir Klitschko. And, of course, us!
Throughout the event, we provided 22 partners at 19 different locations - spread across the Mediapark, the Belgian Quarter, Friesenplatz and Stadtgarten - with drinks as well as various snack boxes, wraps and other small culinary treats. We had around 60 service staff and drivers on duty at all times, who were coordinated from our specially set up mobile office at Hahnentor. We distributed fresh, crunchy fruit in several neighbourhoods with our vendor's trays and cargo bikes and also had a nostalgic Coffee Ape on Friesenplatz, which was very popular. All in all, a logistical masterpiece!
Sustainable event catering in the recycling loop

Focus on sustainability: lemonpie sets standards
For us, sustainability is always a particular focus for such large and extensive events. By using the PAPSTAR 'pure' range, our disposable tableware was not only biodegradable and recyclable, but we were also able to recycle it and ensure that it could be reused. We want to establish a new, extended form of sustainability that includes the zero-waste principle. lemonpie has a real closed-loop economy - and that's just great,' explains our Sustainability Officer, Stephanie Forstner.
For example, plates, cups or cutlery made from renewable raw materials such as cardboard, paperboard, wood, sugar cane, palm leaf or agricultural waste were decomposed in a bio-converter and then hygienised. Due to its high cellulose content, the output material can then be used to produce new products at a nearby cardboard factory - and the circle is complete!
